Types of Pigeons
household Pigeons
A number of pigeon breeds are raised domestically for sport, for hobby and for food. When these domestic pigeons are accidentally or deliberately released into the wild, they cannot fend for themselves in the same
way that a wild pigeon can. These are the pigeons we most commonly rescue and take in at MickaCoo.
There are many type of pigeon
- King Pigeons
King Pigeons are bred for food (squab). They are larger than both feral and homing pigeons, and are pure white with pink beaks. King Pigeons are sometimes bought and released by well-meaning individuals who “save” them from live animal markets regrettablKing Pigeons face certain deathin the wild since they do not have appropriate flight or survival skills. They do, however, make excellent pets and aviary residents. They are tame and customary to human contact.
- budapest Pigeons
Description: The most prominent feature of this breed is its head. It is wide and short with the width and length being of the same dimensions, forming a "V" down to the wattle. The back of the head is sharply marked upward, forming three corners. The beak, while being short and thick, is upright set. The large eyes are pearl in color, with thick ceres almost frog like. Black ceres are called for in the black beak diversity, and flesh colored in the white beak variety. The neck is long and slightly arched, with the wing butts carried slightly outwards. This feature, along with its long legs, gives the bird the expression of a stork. The Budapest has an erect station, standing high on its toes.

- chinese owl
Description: The present Chinese Owl criterion requires a small, short, stocky bird with a wide bold head and neck. It has a clear alert eye with a fine repeated eye cere. The beak is small and dainty. This breed has an upright station with the eye being located over the ball of the foot. The standard calls for a wide, high burning "collar" with a distinct gap on the back of the head; a profuse upper and lower breast frill (split with a horizontal part) that covers the wing butts, and larg distinct "pantaloons". Each of these three features is valued equally. The legs of the Chinese Owl are short but graceful, and must be free of feathers below the hock. Chinese Owls with forked or split tails, feathering below the hock, red eye ceres, African Owl type heads, excessive plucking or trimming, or out of condition birds will be disqualified in the showroom and therefore should be avoided.
